Dreaded Color

The whole movie, there’s sort of a pastel hue on the scenes colorgrading, and it gives you this sense of dread. Even though the scenes were happy and joyous, you can’t shake off the feeling that something is lurking.

Classic Ghost Portrayal

They made use of the usual ghost trope, but they did it exceptionally well. It didn’t feel cheezy or overused in any way. A classic portrayal done very well.

This holds so much more edge against modern American horror movies. Usually, modern horror movies rely on loud, sharp sounds, or senseless gore p0rn to get that shock factor. Call of the Dead uses different elements, big and small, it slowly adds that sense of dread and scares you inside out.
