Introduction

“In Toy Story 5, the toys face their biggest hurdle yet: modern technology. Bonnie, now seven or eight years old, struggles to connect with other children and is mocked for playing with old-fashioned toys. To help her fit in, her parents buy her a tabletโ€”digitally represented as an advanced device named Lilypad (voiced by Greta Lee).”

Characters

I won’t go into detail who voiced who, but the number of characters that pops up in every installment kept increasing. Its a minor inconvenience in remembering their names, the real problem was, and I think its also one of their problems, is to give EVERYONE a role. The collection of toys thay had was too many that they didn’t even matter anymore. The ones we fell in love with before is niw a sideshow of sorts. I get the reasoning, its just sad.

Not For Ages 4 and Below

The themes the movie tackled was too deep for younger minds. Even for 5 and 6 year old kids. You had to explain to them what was really happening. Aside from the obvious.

Geared towards Adults

Fans of the franchise (adults now and some with families of their own) will connect deeply with the movie. Because we grew up with this. And the story, you just had to see the previous ones to understand the impact of some of the scenes.

Less Comedy

Compared to the previous ones, Toy Story 5 had less comedic moments. Like I said before, it was a movie geared towards adults who grew up with the franchise. Satisfying as it was, it should’ve been made more for younger audiences.

Final Thoughts

Indeed it was a satisfying installment, specially in one of the characters of the movie. I would’ve liked to have laughed more. Three times I got teary eyed and got a lump in throat, it was a movie moment for me, same moment I had while watching The Wild Robot. I watch a lot of children’s movie, specially with the family. I’m not being biased about anything, so my rating will be my honest view of it.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
