Introduction
This film had me on a roller coaster of emotions and James McAvoy delivered. With the success of Split (2016), I could think of none other than McAvoy to play as the charming Paddy in Speak No Evil (2024). This is probably on my top 10 horror list for 2024.
“A dream holiday morphs into a horrific ordeal for an American family as their idyllic weekend at a British country estate spirals into a terrifying living nightmare.”
Oscar Worthy Performance
James McAvoy’s wide range of acting skills hace made him the best choice to play as Paddy. Shifting from a loving, family man to a siniter force that victims have to deal with. Impeccable performance.
A Remake
Majority of those that have seen the 2022 Danish original production have said that the original was far better than its American remake, Speak No Evil (2024). The ending of it, as they said, left them speechless and sort of traumatized, than what the remake had given us. I’m looking forward to viewing it myself.
On My Tippy Toes
The suspense is to be applauded for. Not often do I feel anxious about a chase in a movie. More often than not, I already anticipated the results and it just ruins everything for me. Speak No Evil was able to keep me at the edge of my seat and on my toes, waiting for something to happen.
Final Thoughts
If you’re into high anxiety induced horror films, and have no problem with trigger warnings dealing with minors, Speak No Evil (2024) is the perfect one for you. Pair it up with a glass of wine and crank up the volume on that song “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles (You’ll know why when you’ve seen it.)
