Introduction

“Weapons is a 2025 supernatural horror film directed by Zach Cregger. The synopsis centers on the mysterious, simultaneous disappearance of nearly every child from a single classroom in a small Pennsylvania town. The story is told from multiple perspectives as the town descends into paranoia and grief.”

Characters

Julia Garner (as Justine) was able to perfectly portray that, sort of, dangerous yet gentle facade of her. Doing things in the shadows and even being criticized for her past. Her terror was genuine and it made me feel more for what she’s going through.

Josh Brolin’s (as Archer) character was the cog that made the gears turn. I felt his loss when the incident happened and towards the end, viewers were able to connect with him more. Even though most people nowadays knew Brolin as a superhero comic character, they’ve forgotten how well seasoned he is and he proved it here.

Honestly, I really thought that Glen Close was Gladys at first. When I knew that it was really Amy Madigan, I was surprised but in a good way. Her deranged aunt facade was awesome. All the kids would be scared of her when they see her walking down the street wearing her Gladys get-up. I love how emotionless she was when doing the deeds, it shows how far gone she was in the first place. Perfect casting.

Horror Version of The Vantage Point

Towards the middle part of Weapons, I immediately thought that it was kind of like Vantage Point (2008), where we get the viewpoint from different witnesses and puzzle it all together in the end. Surely not everyone was a fan of it, but I liked it and it was refreshing.

Action Packed Score

If you’ve played Uncharted 4 or any Uncharted games for that matter, the music score on those was a banger, each and every one of them. It really helped give that massive oomph to the situation at hand. Much like here in Weapons, almost every scene had each of their own score to accompany it, and it made a world of difference. Specially that final scene, it felt so much like Uncharted’s chase scenes. So good.

Abrupt or Perfect Ending?

I’ve seen people commenting about Weapons that it ending pretty fast that they weren’t able to digest what really happened. For me, I think it was done tastefully. I don’t know why some people got confused with the ending, because everything was narrated beautifully by Scarlett Sher and all the details were laid out for the viewers.
