Introduction
Final Destination, Spin the Bottle, Ouija, and in addition to this growing list is Whistle. Movies like these have the same format, one by one they get killed off, and they have the same team dynamics. Whistle doesn’t veer away from this overused formula yet it embraces it and masks it differently in the form of an Aztec-designed whistle.

The Usual Friends
The “group of misfits” are the same as the other titles with the same plot. The group always has the musclehead, the beautiful cheerleader type girl, the class clown, the out of place girl, and the usual new girl with a dark secret past. And yes, most, if not all of them eventualy dies in the end.
A Blend of Homage and Originality
Props to Whistle for being original on how they end their characters. The effects was great and made me squint on some of those scenes. It was creative and executed tastefully. Their concept was slightly different than that of Final Destinations, but it was enough to make it their own.
I Hated This Element
I honestly wasn’t a fan of the lesbian relationship between the two girls. It didn’t serve any purpose whatsoever. They literally show two schoolgirls kissingโon the bed, and in the middle of the school corridor. I mean I could accept it if they did it off-camera with obvious hints at what they’re going to do, be discreet about it.
Final Thoughts
It was a great Final Destination-esque movie. Though the horror aspect of it didn’t really reached that point for me, but the effects and how their character dies was tastefully made. Really well done, I’ve seen my fair share of gore scenes, but this still made me squint.
