Introduction
Have you ever loved someone so much that you’d wish to be together forever? Is that a yes? Well, I doubt you have the same level of conviction as Tim and Millie here. It took me quite a while to watch this, and I knew it was going to be one hell of a ride! Directed by Michael Shanks.
Characters
Dave Franco (as Tim) was great. He got his character down. The useless, pathetic, couldn’t decide on his own, leeching off of his girlfriend role was meant for him. Not as an insult, but a compliment to his acting. Franco displayed true horror whenever it comes for him, and it made a huge impact.
Alison Brie (as Millie) was phenomenal. Love and horror intertwining within her. She projected those two polar opposites gracefully and I couldn’t be happier seeing her get the role.
Fckin Awesome Effects
No AI was used (Except for the Chinese release). Fuck AI. Together (2025) properly displayed true horror effects with the use of practical effects and CGI. They used custom-built prosthetics (main example would be Dave Franco’s head bust during the hair gagging scene.), specialized make-up and CGI, and everything worked horrifyingly beautiful.
Subtle Dark Comedy
One of the things I appreciated more in Together was the small fast jabs of subtle comedy. Even if they don’t outright say the words, the scenes where they add these felt a bit lighter, considering the terrors that happened prior (ex. kitchen scene).
An Homage to a Classic
The creature-feature feels here hits the spot. If you know what I’m talking about, it felt like an homage to John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). The design was gruesome and very hard to look at, a remarkable job they’ve done here.
What I Didn’t Like
One thing, the ending. Maybe its just me, but the ending wasn’t properly done. So many questions will be raised by the viewers AND by the actors as well, given that ending. I liked the result of what happened, I just didn’t quite like how they showed it, it felt incomplete.
Final Thoughts
Together (2025) is an awesome body horror film following The Ugly Stepsister (2025). It turns the most precious thing, Love, into the most horrifying thing you could ever think of. Definitely on my top 5 body horror for 2025. Highly recommended.
