I highly recommend this film to anyone. It gave me the satisfaction I got from watching Midsommar (2019), but of a different genre. The characters were great. Dialogue was spot on. The surprise towards the end is definitely one for the books (pun intended).

It had a good thing going on, but felt weak on the storytelling. It's a good psychological horror flick, not great.
- [NBA JAM](https://ubasjuice.com/nba-jam-1993/): High octane, fast-paced, and a very entertaining announcer, this simple yet dopamine-inducive game will get you playing until your mother tells you to stop. Produced by Iguana Entertainment and Midway Games, project was headed by Mark Turmell.
- [Ghost of Tsushima](https://ubasjuice.com/ghost-of-tsushima-2020/): Ghost of Tsushima is visually-appealing. Battle mechanics looks complex at first but have a small learning curve. The music is immersive, combined with its breathtaking visuals, this game offers a unique experience for those who appreciate landscape sceneries, architecture, music and art.

It was also a pleasure to see them not going the conservative route. There were some gore moments and was done tastefully. Looking forward to more Filipino-made films that aren't afraid to take chances.
- [Nightbreed (Cabal Cut)](https://ubasjuice.com/nightbreed/): This is an adaptation of (a part of) Clive Barker's sixth volume from Books of Blood. Barker's monsters have always been ahead of their time. The creature design, voice, and personality set them apart. They have a unique background history. This history explains how they came to be, most, if not all, unless I'm mistaken.

It definitely struck a chord with me and I'll never forget that. It was a genuine cinematic experience.

When they shot the ending scene with the view of Genovia and then "Miracles Happen" by Myra started to play in the background, it was an icing on a cake; it captures the essence and emotion of the film and sums up the whole story.

Definitely recommending this film, I'm actually surprised that there were few mentions of this on threads and forums.
- [Cannibal Holocaust](https://ubasjuice.com/cannibal-holocaust/): This film about cannibalism sparked controversy across the globe, banned in over 50 countries, ironically not because of cannibal, but because of real animal cruelty. Honestly, I had to watch around 5-6 gory films and Cannibal Ferox to top it all off before going into this one, just so I'd be desensitized a bit; and yes, I watched the 96 minutes uncut version.
- [Greenland](https://ubasjuice.com/greenland/): The way they showed the scale of the disaster was not as large as how they did it in "2012", this was mostly shown from their perspective, some aerial shots, mostly on land, but not as large of a scale. They were able to answer that issue though through news reports that were shown throughout the film.
- [The Thing](https://ubasjuice.com/the-thing-1982/): Another entry into John Carpenter's Apocalypse Trilogy, together with Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness, this sci-fi/horror classic is peak movie magic with the use of practical effects.
- [Prince of Darkness](https://ubasjuice.com/prince-of-darkness/): A group of graduate students and scientists uncover an ancient canister in an abandoned church, but when they open the container, they inadvertently unleash a strange liquid and an evil force of darkness on all humanity.
- [Uncharted 4: A Thief's End](https://ubasjuice.com/uncharted-4-a-thiefs-end/): Overall gameplay of Uncharted 4 is flawless. The wall climbing, as usual, is iconic, every time another game does it, I go "Meh, Uncharted did it better." The one thing I could critic about the gameplay is the removal of the "grenade return" concept that they did in Uncharted 3.
- [Nier Automata: End of Yorha](https://ubasjuice.com/nier-automata/): NieR: Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful machines.
- [Martyrs](https://ubasjuice.com/martyrs/): Her every action is burdened by trauma/guilt, hoping to free herself from it's grasp. This also reminded me of "Possum (2018)", who also tackled the same subject. Trauma took on a form itself, and seemed like it acted on its own, it was very well done and unique. It added that supernatural feel to it, and gave the viewer a deeper understanding of it.
- [War Of The Worlds](https://ubasjuice.com/war-of-the-worlds/): The ending of War Of The Worlds, at first seemed like a shortcut, production-wise, reminded me of "The Mist" but not as dark, and it did make sense. The reason was simple yet it encompasses everything that has happened so far in the story, it was properly paced, and the timing for that extra dramatic effect was on point as well. It was very well done.
- [Toy Story 5](https://ubasjuice.com/toy-story-5/): Indeed it was a satisfying installment, specially in one of the characters of the movie. I would've liked to have laughed more. Three times I got teary eyed and got a lump in throat, it was a movie moment for me, same moment I had while watching The Wild Robot. I watch a lot of children's movie, specially with the family. I'm not being biased about anything, so my rating will be my honest view of it. For adults - 4/5 ⭐️ For kids - 2.5/5 ⭐️
- [Obsession](https://ubasjuice.com/obsession/): I had the pleasure of watching both Backrooms and Obsession in one night, thanks to my wife. Both had something to prove and prove they did. Obsession was a more straightforward kind of horror compared to Backrooms. Obsession left a deeper impact for me, I could hear her screams while driving last night. Both are highly recommended and to be appreciated on the big screen.
- [Backrooms](https://ubasjuice.com/backrooms/): Backrooms will definitely be on my top 5 of horror films released this year. Its not your typical jump scare horror, it creeps up on you, touches your shoulder, whispers in your ear, feel its cold breathe, yet when you look, nothing's there. This is not for you if you're looking for Conjuring-Insidious kind of horror. Highly recommended. Midsommar is another one from A24 that I recommend.
- [100 Meters](https://ubasjuice.com/100-meters/): People need to watch this, specially those who are obsessed with winning that they give up their social life for it. 100 Meters reminds us that the efforts, struggles, losses, be it in sports, life, or business, is the euphoria that we crave. The reason why we always keep pushing. As long as you know why your doing what your doing, its enough to keep you going. 
- [Mudborn (泥娃娃)](https://ubasjuice.com/mudborn/): Taiwanese horror is still on the rise, The Sadness (2021) and Incantation (2022) proves this. Even in modern times, they didn't compromise on the vanilla-treated horror studios make nowadays. Mudborn will get you back on track with how horror is supposed to feel like.
- [The Front Room](https://ubasjuice.com/the-front-room/): It is a cultish-atmospheric and artfully shot film that pulls you in, but will leave you to dry in the end. I love every minute of it, every act that pass, the story gets weirder and my anxiety shoots through the roof. The ending however, I'm feeling torn about it. I wanted more, yet at the same time, it feels like a French-kiss ending.
- [Call of the Dead (Panggilan dari Kubur)](https://ubasjuice.com/call-of-the-dead/): If you're looking for a good scare, a good storyline, and a plot that makes you think. Call of the Dead packs everything in. You won't have to worry about those out of nowhere cheesy comedic remarks because this movies serves horror, and horror alone. This ties in my rating with another Indonesian horror titled May The Devil Take You.
- [Attack 13](https://ubasjuice.com/attack-13/): It was a good watch, creepy with some proper gore and a couple of jump scares. I'd recommend this to anyone who's looking for a good scare. Story was good, though not unique, it was still properly told. The Medium (2021) is one I'd recommend for Thai horror.
- [Tusk](https://ubasjuice.com/tusk/): Like I said, this is by far the worse fate someone could get, aside from dying—and if you've seen this, you might consider getting offed instead of having this life. Highly recommended, though I myself couldn't stomach to watch it again. The story and pacing was nice. Effects is awesome and really delivered a punch to its viewers. A great cult classic title.
- [Speak No Evil (2024)](https://ubasjuice.com/speak-no-evil-2024/): If you're into high anxiety induced horror films, and have no problem with trigger warnings dealing with minors, this is the perfect one for you. Pair it up with a glass of wine and crank up the volume on that song "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles (You'll know why when you've seen it.)
- [Terrifier 3](https://ubasjuice.com/terrifier-3/): If you stopped watching the Terrifier franchise because you thought that the first was just senseless k*llings and that the following installment would be the same, think again! Terrifier 3 dives so much deeper into the lore of Art the Clown. The effects are awesome and yes, Terrifier 3 lights up multiple trigger warnings, so be warned.
- [Whistle](https://ubasjuice.com/whistle/): It was a great Final Destination-esque movie. Though the horror aspect of it didn't really reached that point for me, but the effects and how their character dies was tastefully made. Really well done, I've seen my fair share of gore scenes, but this still made me squint.
- [American Psycho](https://ubasjuice.com/american-psycho/): American Psycho will forever be on top of crime thrillers list of anyone who is a fan of the genre. A satire film about people being obsessed with materialistic things and detached from one's reality, only to fuel their social status in life. 20, 50, 100 years from now, the Yuppie culture will still be relative and Bateman will be dancing in the shadows whilst holding an axe.
- [Crawlspace](https://ubasjuice.com/crawlspace/): Its a mediocre thriller movie, very basic and nothing that would make me do a second watch. Everything was left on the screen, there isn't anything that would make you think otherwise—which I think is something that's lacking in modern movies. I'd honestly watch Cocaine Bear (2023) five times continuously than rewatch this again.
- [Les Démoniaques](https://ubasjuice.com/les-demoniaques/): It was a good watch and definitely recommending it if you're into old (erotic) films. It makes you realize how far acting, effects, and storytelling have come. Les Démoniaques is about sexual violence, pleasure, greed, loss, death and revenge, yet it tells the story of how everything comes around.
- [Final Draft (2025)](https://ubasjuice.com/final-draft-2025/): Final Draft will never surpass Physical 100 in terms of production and viewership. Having said that, Final Draft is still an enjoyable, adrenaline induced reality TV show with a proper line up of athletes that would keep you guessing who would survive the challenge.
- [MGSD Wing Gundam Zero EW](https://ubasjuice.com/mgsd-wing-gundam-zero-ew/): If you're looking for a very intricate build but felt that the MG (Master Grade) or PG (Perfect Grade) lines are to daunting of a build to tackle, the MGSD Wing Gundam EW is the best one I'd recommend. The stickers included are also standard issue stick-on stickers, not the WSD (water slide decal) kind. No paint or customization needed, build straight out of the box and you're good to go.
- [The American](https://ubasjuice.com/the-american/): The American is not your usual crime action flick with guns blazing, front-door-kicking in your face firefight, rather it is a proper storytelling of a man's struggle. It's sort of a counterpart of The House That Jack Built under the horror genre. The music paired with each scene was perfect and it was definitely an experience. Highly recommended.
- [Bram Stoker's Dracula](https://ubasjuice.com/bram-stokers-dracula/): Like I said from the beginning, THE BEST Dracula iteration by far. Gary Oldman carried this classic with his accurate depiction of the said character. All other film elements came together and formed this perfect dark being named Bram Stoker's Dracula. For a more recent/modern release, Nosferatu featuring Bill Skarsgard is also a great choice.
- [Together](https://ubasjuice.com/together/): Together (2025) is an awesome body horror film following The Ugly Stepsister (2025). It turns the most precious thing, Love, into the most horrifying thing you could ever think of. Definitely on my top 5 body horror for 2025. Highly recommended.
- [Delirium](https://ubasjuice.com/delirium-2018/): Don't have anything to watch tonight? Delirium is a good pick, honestly a good psychological horror thriller. It felt like a lovechild test version of The Shining and Shutter Island, but it never came close to any of those two.
- [It Takes Two](https://ubasjuice.com/it-takes-two/): There's a reason why It Takes Two won Game of the Year (GOTY) at The Game Awards 2021. The game is simple yet challenging enough to keep you interested at the same time. Impactful and relatable storyline, highly recommended for couples, specially those going through a rough patch. It Takes Two is THE BEST co-op/family game I've ever played.
- [Fresh](https://ubasjuice.com/fresh/): Disney+ Fresh delivers in all aspects. From the chemistry between Sebastian Stan and Daisy Edgar-Jones, the laughter they shared and the music they danced to—to the horror that ensued. Fresh is a good starting point for beginner horror fans, its not too much, but its enough to get your heartrate up. Highly recommended.
- [Thunderbolts](https://ubasjuice.com/thunderbolts/): Marvel has been going downhill as of late, specially since End Game finished and we got other hero movies that just plain sucked. I honestly thought Thunderbolts would be different, I mean it was, but still the same old sucky and predictable storytelling.
- [28 Years Later](https://ubasjuice.com/28-years-later/): 28 Years Later was a long awaited sequel most fans of the franchise have waited for, but as most sequels that are being released recently, this one felt unnecessary. Its supposed to be a "reset" of the franchise and a start of a new trilogy, so let's see. So far, Bring Her Back and Weapons are my top 2 pick for horror in 2025.
- [Brick](https://ubasjuice.com/brick/): The premise is original and it always intrigues me when the movie has no definite antagonist, much like 2012 (2009) and Contagion (2011). Where humanity's greatest threat is amongst themselves. If you can overlook the gaps in logic, its a pretty good sci-fi flick. Definitely recommending this.
- [Wicked: For Good](https://ubasjuice.com/wicked-for-good/): Wicked For Good was a good closing to the Broadway film adaptation, but it felt incomplete at times. Some scenes felt like unnecessary fillers where if you cut them out, you could easily fit it all in a 3-hour plus movie. My suggestion, just wait for it to become available on streaming services, its not worth falling in line for and definitely not worth the IMAX experience.
- [Anaconda Cursed Jungle](https://ubasjuice.com/anaconda-cursed-jungle/): If you're going into this expecting something like Anaconda (1997), you might as well skip it. Anaconda Cursed Jungle will not satisfy that creature feature cravings you're having, as with most modern horror being released, this relied too much on CGI and you will not feel that fight or flight urge that most horror films are known for. Its a good weekday night flick, but not to make time for.
- [Clown of the Dead](https://ubasjuice.com/clown-of-the-dead/): The poster for Clown of the Dead was very well made, unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations of it. The clown himself was more of a creep than a killer. He's not as scary as one would think, and it was the biggest let down aside from the crappy dialogue. Another recent clown horror genre released was Clown in a Cornfield (2025), also a skippable flick but much better than this one.
- [Curse of the Necklace](https://ubasjuice.com/curse-of-the-necklace/): It was a meh movie. Curse of the Necklace is a mediocre level 90s B-movie horror, but not like those golden B-horrors like Braindead (1992). Dark Harvest (2023) was even more watchable than this.
- [Ushio and Tora](https://ubasjuice.com/ushio-and-tora/): Not one episode was boring, it was a rollercoaster of emotions coupled with the 90s anime feel. The art style was mean and gritty and very unapologetic in showing what they truly wanted to convey. Ushio and Tora felt like a love letter to 90s anime and a perfect homage to traditional Japanese yokai.
- [Weapons](https://ubasjuice.com/weapons/): Bring Her Back (2025) and Weapons are by far my top picks for horror this 2025. Weapons had a fresh take on how to tell the story, it might've been a gamble, but it was so worth it. I loved every bit of it, specially the heart stopping musical score. Highly recommended.
- [Birth/Rebirth](https://ubasjuice.com/birth-rebirth/): This was a great watch in my opinion, Birth/Rebirth made me fall in love with the genre even more. Its sci-fi subtle horror at its finest, probably one of the best ending twists I've seen this year.
- [Untold](https://ubasjuice.com/untold/): Untold tells the story of the untold on the news channel Untold. The title fits perfectly as the movie should never have been told in the first place. Crappy dialogue with annoying forced comedic moments. A very forgettable flick. Skip it.
- [The Monkey](https://ubasjuice.com/the-monkey/): It's honestly an enjoyable ride, but I'm thankful I didn't have to pay to watch it. It doesn't even feel like it deserved a theatrical release. Regardless, it was a nice gore flick with great use of dark humor. Honestly, the only thing that got me going were the d3ath scenes.
- [The Exorcism of Emily Rose](https://ubasjuice.com/the-exorcism-of-emily-rose/): The Exorcism of Emily Rose is definitely one of the best horror films that came out during the 2000s. You could feel the terror in Carpenter's eyes and her voice. Perfect casting for a great storyline.
- [Lilim](https://ubasjuice.com/lilim/): A great Filipino-made cult horror movie with proper use of practical effects blended perfectly with an unnerving music score that builds up the tension. Great choice for a midnight watch.
- [Nearing Death (Menjelang Ajal)](https://ubasjuice.com/menjelang-ajal/): A so-so Indonesian horror with good effects, there are flaws but it has its merits as well. Indonesian horror continues to strive for greatness in this blood-soaked genre.
- [Starry Eyes](https://ubasjuice.com/starry-eyes/): Starry Eyes is one of the best representation of cult horror. Starry Eyes stands out with its use of practical effects and doesn't shy away from showing a bit of blo0dy gore and some nudity, all of which was done tastefully. Highly recommended.
- [Case 39](https://ubasjuice.com/case-39/): Case 39 is a decent, low-key demon flick, much like Eli (2019). The characters delivered great performances, and it was a pleasure to see Bradley Cooper and Ian McShane. The death scenes were great, I wasn't expecting it to be that good. Highly recommended.
- [Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital](https://ubasjuice.com/strange-frequencies-taiwan-killer-hospital/): From the screenshots of "Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital" alone, I know I'd be in for a Class-A remake of Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (You should watch this instead). The story was okay; Jane De Leon's acting was superb. Its a good nighttime watch with friends, poor CGI though, and predictable jump scares.
- [Seklusyon](https://ubasjuice.com/seklusyon/): Honestly, Seklusyon far exceeded my expectations. I'm not too big of a fan of modern day Filipino horror films, but Seklusyon was able to stand out, despite having a storyline that most horror fans are aware of. It was a nice watch and its up on Netflix right now.
- [Terrifier](https://ubasjuice.com/terrifier/): There weren't much jump scares actually, just the thought of an impending doom and how Art will do it. Like I said before, it's a straight up gore fest of a film. Normally I wouldn't be impressed as much if there weren't any backstory to the character, or even a motive, just something to base everything on, but this one really had me going and it was one hell of a ride. Can't wait to start watching Terrifier 2.
- [Aftershock](https://ubasjuice.com/aftershock/): If you're looking for something to kill time and want something in the lines of horror/action/adventure, then you've found it! I wouldn't categorize it as a film more of like a survival flick. To be honest, it was disappointing, specially coming off of watching Eli Roth's The Green Inferno, I was expecting more or of the same caliber. I'd watch The Day After Tomorrow (2004) or 2012 (2009) any day over this hot mess.
- [The Ugly Stepsister (Den stygge stesøsteren)](https://ubasjuice.com/the-ugly-stepsister/): The Ugly Stepsister is a great way to kick start body horror in 2025. The reimagining of the story was interesting. Everything was in place and well thought out. Definitely not for kids and strictly rated-R. Should you watch it? Of course! I highly recommend it.
- [Clown in a Cornfield](https://ubasjuice.com/clown-in-a-cornfield/): Its a meh kind of a campy horror flick. I honestly expected more of a marriage between Jason Voorhees and Art the Clown, that could've been awesome. Instead, we got a mediocre teenage slasher clown horror coupled with some irrelevant elements.
- [Bring Her Back](https://ubasjuice.com/bring-her-back/): The Philippou brothers made the world know that "Talk to Me" wasn't a fluke. Music and Cinematography were on point as well and added that deathly dread that fits like a glove with the tone of the film. Because of the success "Bring Her Back" had, anything coming from them would be under my radar. Definitely on my top 10 for 2025 horror films.
- [A Quiet Place: Day One](https://ubasjuice.com/a-quiet-place-day-one/): Day One is a great addition to the "A Quiet Place" franchise. It gave us a more detailed (yet we're still in the dark) insight on where those creatures came from and how the world acted when they first came here. The pacing was a little bit messed up though, but it was still a nice watch.
- [Maleficent](https://ubasjuice.com/maleficent/): Anyone who grew up watching "Sleeping Beauty" would definitely be interested in a story about Maleficent. It was well-paced, different storyline but they were able to retain that Disney magic. A very good watch for kids and kids at heart.
- [Smile 2](https://ubasjuice.com/smile-2/): For modern horror, Smile 2 was a cut above the rest. While the first "Smile" didn't get a better reception, it was great to see that people gave the sequel a chance and it received great reviews. Practical effects was represented very well here and I'm all for it. Highly recommended.
- [Three Extremes](https://ubasjuice.com/three-extremes/): Three Extremes is a highly recommended horror anthology, we never see any of these things being made today, at least not at this caliber. It is so much worth your time because it will give you an idea of what these three known Asian directors would bring to the table. It may also open up your options in watching horror films. 
- [The Day the Earth Stood Still](https://ubasjuice.com/the-day-the-earth-stood-still/): This remake was okay., I guess the two main selling points of it was it was a remake of a classic hit (95% on Rotten Tomato), and they got Keanu Reeves to play the part of the alien. Aside from that, the only that gives this one the edge over the classic was the design of Gort (I love giant creatures). Its a good sci-fi movie to watch with popcorns and drinks, but not something you'd talk about afterwards.
- [Heaven Is for Real](https://ubasjuice.com/heaven-is-for-real/): Even if you're not a Christian, a religious person, or a consistent church-goer (I'm neither of all these), I still urge you to watch Heaven Is for Real. Its definitely not a 10/10, but its worth a one-time watch. Don't worry, it's not as preachy as it sounds and didn't feel like a Christian propaganda movie either.
- [Frontier(s)](https://ubasjuice.com/frontiers/): New French Extremity needs a revival. Unfortunately, at this day and age, with all these sensitivity going about. I doubt we will ever see a movie of this caliber.

- [The Medium](https://ubasjuice.com/the-medium/): The Medium begins as a captivating yet slow-burning thriller that eventually transitions into recycled scares and an incredibly underwhelming finish. If you've watched horror films centred around spiritual possession, then you have a good idea of what to expect.
- [Ratatouille](https://ubasjuice.com/ratatouille/): Ratatouille is highly recommended for families, and a fun watch for the chefs out there, professional or home cook. Regardless of your level of knowledge, always remember, Anyone Can Cook.
- [In the Mouth of Madness](https://ubasjuice.com/in-the-mouth-of-madness/): The first horror film of Sam Neill I've had the pleasure of watching was "Event Horizon", though I felt his performance was weak there up until the part when things get crazy. On the other hand, In the Mouth of Madness, he went from insurance investigator, to a cult non-believer, to being insane, and to straight up being mad; he made me a fan of his in the horror genre.
- [MadS](https://ubasjuice.com/mads/): MadS was an experience, it felt like a found-footage film yet its not a POV kind, we get to see everything from one camera angle, and everytime they shift to another character, we get to see and feel their experience. MadS was very immersive in a sense that it keeps you on the edge and the realism was there. Great film and highly recommended.
- [Dark Harvest](https://ubasjuice.com/dark-harvest/): The ending was good, but I would've preferred to see it happen, they went with the "use your imagination" route, not sure if it was as intended or to cut budget. It felt like Purge meets Pumpkinhead kind of a film. Dark Harvest is a good pre-Halloween horror flick to watch, a bit gory, so maybe not with the kids.
- [Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor](https://ubasjuice.com/hell-house-llc-origins/): The first Hell House LLC was the best among the franchise, when they released the 2nd and 3rd installment, it slowly dwindled down to a bad b-horror at best. Hell House LLC Origins as a prequel installment revived it from the ashes and the success of this one made me look forward to "Hell House: Lineage" more, and I can't wait!
- [Umma](https://ubasjuice.com/umma/): It was honestly a good watch, not at all scary though, its borderline horror, more on psychological thriller if you ask me. Oh carried this film and is its one redeeming factor; and the only reason why I gave it a watch to begin with.
- [Straw](https://ubasjuice.com/straw/): While Henson successfully delivered an emotionally heavy performance, the rest of the movie's elements were kind of a let down, safe to say that Henson carried this movie. Its a good movie to watch but not for those who are sensitive about topics involving children.
- [Audition](https://ubasjuice.com/audition/): Audition has probably one with the least gore scenes, but the way they showed it, the detail and how they shot it, I felt every single one of it going through my skin. It made my skin crawl. One of the most effective horror films, definitely in my top ten.
- [Mallari](https://ubasjuice.com/mallari/): I don't usually like Filipino made movies, but after watching this, it gives me hope and am willing to explore more of what Filipino movies has to offer, specially in terms of the horror genre. This is a well made movie, a bit long in my opinion, and I think if they excluded the Manananggal twist, it probably would've received better reception. 
- [Curve](https://ubasjuice.com/curve/): It's a nice horror/thriller to watch with a friend or something to have in the background while doing some chores. Everything was predictable and somewhat silly at times. Nothing notable, pretty basic horror/thriller.
- [In A Violent Nature](https://ubasjuice.com/in-a-violent-nature/): If you want to watch a modern slasher film paired up with a walking simulator, and you don't like anxiety inducing music, this is for you. I honestly hope you enjoy it as much as I would've wanted to.one-time watch. Don't worry, it's not as preachy as it sounds and didn't feel like a Christian propaganda movie either.
- [The Old Guard 2](https://ubasjuice.com/the-old-guard-2/): While the first installment was good, this second one was hard to watch. Usually, online ratings (IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes) aren't to be trusted, but on this however, it was right on the money. I wouldn't be surprised if this would be the last we'd see of the The Old Guard.
- [Sinners](https://ubasjuice.com/sinners/): Sinners had some good and awesome moments, specifically those scenes involving dance and music. Unfortunately it failed in the storytelling department. There were too many elements mashed up together that ultimately lead to obvious plot holes. The casting of MBJ played a big part in the movie's marketing and reception, and I don't think Sinners will get this much attention if they had a different actor for the role.

- [Nosferatu](https://ubasjuice.com/nosferatu/): Nosferatu is one of the best iterations of Dracula I've seen for quite a while. The director, cinematographer and composer worked perfectly together to deliver this gothic style of filming. The design of Orlok also stands out and feels like a breathe of fresh air, Bill Skarsgard executed his part perfectly. Definitely on my top 10 for 2024 horror films. Reminds me a bit of Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass (2021) having the same atmospheric gothic experience.
- [Transformers: Rise of the Beasts](https://ubasjuice.com/transformers-rise-of-the-beasts/): After the Bayverse (the first 3 which I loved), fast forward to Transformers One, Bumblebee 2017, and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. These are what I think are the best Transformers films, and am hoping they'd continue with their current formula or even become better in the future. Terrific voice actors, amazing CGI, and pure family fun, action packed, robot movie.
- [Wounds](https://ubasjuice.com/wounds/): Wounds got me interested the first and second act, it was actually a fun watch. I would've liked it more though if they invested more on the lore and not what it could do to people. 
- [Final Destination: Bloodlines](https://ubasjuice.com/final-destination-bloodlines/): Given how pale in comparison horror movies are nowadays to early 2000s, Final Destination Bloodlines was a good entry to the franchise. While also paying homage to the first installment, Bloodlines was able to create an original plot and able to stand on its own. Though it felt a bit conservative compared to the first one, its still a good addition to the series.
- [ApoKalypse](https://ubasjuice.com/apokalypse/): This low budget passion project, ApoKalypse,  from director Lutz Geiger brought the roof down hard! With its explicit dark humor and very graphic yet cartoonish scenes, will surely give you a laugh. Its a trippy movie, a fun ride for friends (definitely not with children) add some beer and pizza and you've got yourself a party!
- [The Fly](https://ubasjuice.com/the-fly/): The Fly was a very well thought out creature feature with a concept of a simple accident. The idea was original and genius. Splicing a human DNA with that of a fly? Nice. Cast selection was on point as well. The Fly is a highly recommended 1980s creature feature film.
- [Bone Tomahawk](https://ubasjuice.com/bone-tomahawk/): Bone Tomahawk was an okay cannibal film set in the frontiers. The story was okay. Majority of the movie was a snooze fest. Loved the dialogue to be honest, great creature design as well. Not really pushing to recommend this one. I'd say its an acquired taste.
- [It Comes at Night](https://ubasjuice.com/it-comes-at-night/): It Comes at Night is very well done. There wasn't a time where I got bored (I'm sure many viewers were), the dialogue kept me engaged. It was well-written and the exchanges felt natural. Another great film under A24's belt. Highly recommended.
- [The Outwaters](https://ubasjuice.com/the-outwaters/): Definitely not for everyone, not because of the violence and gore, but because its too hard to watch, literally. The camera was confusing, the story was confusing, everything was confusing, definitely a mind fvck of a film. Nonetheless it was definitely ambitious. I'd recommend The Outwaters as a one-time watch, if you can finish it that is.
- [High Tension](https://ubasjuice.com/high-tension/): It was a good psychological horror film with a lot of tension and gore. Definitely not for kids and squeamish people. Everything was actually going great until that unnecessary, nonsensical, illogical twist that they added in the end. 
- [Grotesque](https://ubasjuice.com/grotesque-2009/): The gore scenes aren't for everyone as it deals with graphic mutilations and s3xual acts. There's really no story here nor any moral lesson that you can take away from watching this. Grotesque is pure torture p0rn and the director wanted to see how far he can take it before getting sued by someone. 
- [Man of Steel](https://ubasjuice.com/man-of-steel/): In terms of modern takes, Man of Steel has the best Superman by far. Though the movie itself failed in some aspects, but the character and iteration itself, I'd say, was great. The pacing was trash and it destroyed the tension of some scenes. I'd watch it again, but I'll still say the same things about it. Great movie, poor execution.
- [Late Night with the Devil](https://ubasjuice.com/late-night-with-the-devil/): Late Night with the Devil was a fun, not at all scary, B-movie type of horror film. Definitely worth the time. Even with the limited budget and lack of shoot locations, they still managed to captivate me to keep watching it.
- [Wicked](https://ubasjuice.com/wicked-2024/): I've watched the musical twice in the Philippines, and it was my first ever broadway musical experience and the reason I fell in love with the medium(?). Everything about the adaptation was great, I love the changes that they did, it highlighted the strengths of the actor/actresses involved. Though I wasn't much of a fan of Erivo's performance, she did however rose to the occassions during her song numbers. The adaptation was a bit long but I didn't get bored. If was a fun ride and definitely did the musical justice.
- [The House That Jack Built](https://ubasjuice.com/the-house-that-jack-built/): The kills weren't as gore as I thought it would be. They were shown with finesse, even some of the kills during "incidents" weren't shown. I think it was a good decision and would make others want to watch it. Just the right amount of violence and gore coupled with properly paced storytelling.
- [Lilo & Stitch](https://ubasjuice.com/lilo-stitch-2025/): Lilo & Stitch is a fun family movie to watch, specially with your kids. Regardless if they've seen the animation, this live action, in my opinion, did it justice. The tweaks were minor to be honest, and doesn't hinder the fans from experiencing Lilo & Stitch yet again. Highly recommended.
- [Gladiator II](https://ubasjuice.com/gladiator-ii/): Its a good one-time watch in my opinion. Gladiator II fails to capture the magic that Maximus had, ended up being a cheap copy of the original. The story was interesting because I wanted to know what happened to Lucius after Commodus died in the first film. I don't think I'd watch it again though, I'd rather watch the first Gladiator again and again.
- [Abigail](https://ubasjuice.com/abigail/): A fun vampire film with an original concept and story. Perfect casting of characters coupled with great performances coming from each of the members. Weir's portrayal of Dracula's daughter was great. Music score fits perfectly. Definitely recommended. It's not really that scary to be honest, more of creepy and eerie.
- [Espantaho (Scarecrow)](https://ubasjuice.com/espantaho/): If you're looking for some good Filipino Horror, look elsewhere, this is not it and you're going to hate yourself for wasting time on it. Also, the ending was predictable. If you want to see people screaming at each other like the usual things we see in telenovelas, added a touch of cheap horror jump scares, then you've found yourself a movie to watch. This was as bad as Pwera Usog (2017).
- [The Devil's Bride (Pengantin Setan)](https://ubasjuice.com/the-devils-bride/): The Devil's Bride is the title to beat this 2025. The scares were effective, though sometimes it gets drowned out by their use of excessive "scary" sounds. A bit long but still a good one-time watch. The story was good and intriguing as well. I'd recommend this over Sorop (2024) any day.
