Directed by John H. Lee, this Korean drama got me real good, and movies like these aren’t really my thing. The actors here were unknown to me, which was a good thing as there weren’t any expectations from their performance. A good example of grasping the moment and not let it drag. You never know when it will be gone.
At first it seemed like the usual chick flick where the woman chases the man of her dreams and the guy brushes her off, but no, this was done perfectly and it had me going. The plot twist really got me tearing up, and it was definitely something anyone wouldn’t expect; it was one of the best and saddest twist in my book.
The production here went over and beyond my expectations for a romance film, and their efforts did not go in vain. Everything was shot masterfully, contributing more emotion to the scene at hand. Korean Dramas have always been known to give the audience some heartache, but even knowing that beforehand, I still fell for it. This film is a total tearjerker and I hate (and applaud) films that have this kind of effect on me. The way they use the music’s crescendo to match a scene gives it more oomph, thus having a deeper impact with it’s audience. Even if people say that korean films use an exaggerated dramatic effect during important scenes, you wouldn’t notice that here as they’ve done it so well that it flowed smoothly.
All of the cast members, specially during the end scene felt annoyingly authentic and definitely pulled some heartstrings. The way they gathered there, so as to jog her memory, even at the slimmest chance was heartbreaking. To see her confused of what was happening, ignorant of who these people were was hard to watch. Soo-jin’s performance here left a mark in me and I will forever remember her through this film.
This has been one of my most memorable blind watch experience, it really caught me off guard as these aren’t the kind of films I watchโnow every time someone asks for a drama/love story film, this is the only one that comes to mind. Definitely recommending this film, I’m actually surprised that there were few mentions of this on threads and forums.
Juicy 10/10
